My Sisterlocks Hair Journey

Over the years, my hair has gone from natural to relaxed and back to natural again. In between these two states, like most black women, I have tried sew-ins, wigs and braids. Two years ago, I decided to make a commitment to sisterlocks. The decision to embark on this journey did not come overnight. On the one hand, I took pleasure in styling my versatile loosed kinky 4c hair. However, the amount of time and upkeep that natural hair requires was not ideal for my busy on-the-go lifestyle. This lead me to looking into a more permanent and low maintenance solution. When I first discovered sisterlocks I fell in love instantly. For months before taking the big leap, I would often find myself admiring the sisterlocks of women that were already veterans in their journey on Pinterest. The carefree, and versatile nature of sisterlocks makes it a game changer in the natural hair world. From updos to braid-outs, sisterlocks allows for a variety of hairstyles.
